I know it is a stretch for my blog, but I thought it was interesting to see how brands fight amongst themselves when it comes to advertising.

Protect Yourself from Phishing Scams
I know I have been posting a lot of links and nothing of substance recently, and I plan to rectify that soon. Here's a quick blurb though:
Identity theft is real and is happening. Believe it or not, but you are being electronically assaulted likely on a weekly if not a daily basis. For example, today I received an e-mail from Fifth Third Bank reminding me that I needed to verify my account. So they offered a link for me to verify my account information. Problem is that I don't have a Fifth Third account, nor have I ever banked at Fifth Third. Makes me worried about those people who do, who received the e-mail message, and don't know any better.
So what can I do? Delete the e-mail message and feel bad for those poor suckers who get sucked in? No, there is something you can do. There is a website from the Department of Homeland Security designed for the collection of potential phishing scams.
Please go to it and read over what is expected of you. They point out that you shouldn't willy-nilly forward it to them. Be careful and follow their instructions. And be very careful with suspicious e-mail with e-mail attachments.
